What a unique bitterness in the beer! You really don't get the bitterness on the beer as you taste it - even if you let it sit on a palate for a long time. Only when you swallow the beer does the bitterness really show, growing with a slow but steady intensity. Truth be told, I did expect a bit more sweeter flavours from the namesake - something closer to the bittersweetness that you would come to expect from a bitter liqueur.
