This was probably the best Port Ellen I had tried in 2024. Absolutely sensational, you would not believe the depth of these flavours. It's almost as if 62% or so is the ideal abv for Port Ellens in the 1970s. A nuclear explosion of tropical fruits with nuanced peat notes.
Nose: light thin, mingling peat interspersed amidst a fluid, layered juicy sour mango
Palate: chopping across the tongue, juicy thick sour fruits, starfruits and red apples, hidden peat dancing around on the back
