Wow! That initial nose was surprising - that date-coconut like aroma was really quite novel to find in a whisky. The whisky does exhibit more sweet, denser flavours and aromas than the 10 year old, with a much more subdued profile in the way of fruitiness. Throughout the whisky, there is that subtle coffee note that is expressed from the nose to the finish, which adds an appreciable complexity to the otherwise quite sweet and syrupy whisky.
