Almost there! I think the shochu still lacks that pronounced date shochu or the characteristics of kokuto shochu in terms of confectionery sweetness, though it is definitely present on the nose. This shochu is confectionery, sweet, with easy to like flavours of brown sugar, sweet grain and sweet rice. Approachable, with a high ABV that works as a stand in for rums!
