A tasty dram, albeit slightly more herbaceous and spiced than you would expect. First time drinkers MIGHT be put off a little by this, but will quickly appreciate this expression's rounded-ness and ability to carry itself both with and without food. Myself? I quite enjoy the spicy and "darker" nature of this expression, which as far as Italian reds go tend to lean on the rarer side of things.
