This was an atypical Port Ellen missing its old style fruity notes and coming across rough with dominant peat. It's not bad, but missing a lot of core elements that make a distinctive Port Ellen single malt whisky. Nose: light and grassy barley sweet Palate: savoury umami sweet grassy and motor oil
